Halfway Is a Dangerous Place to Stop
Executive Field Note 050
Recognition often arrives in stages.
First, something no longer fits.
Then an explanation appears.
Relief follows.
The uncertainty has a name.
But naming what happened is not necessarily understanding it.
The first coherent explanation may simply replace confusion with a more comfortable form of certainty.
Recognition began when the old explanation failed.
It does not have to end when the next one arrives.
Executive Question:
What did you stop examining once you found an explanation that worked?
