Urgency Decides What You Will Not See
Executive Field Note 035
Urgency narrows attention.
That is often its purpose.
Possibilities disappear.
Priorities become clear.
Action accelerates.
This can be extraordinarily useful when the situation has been recognized correctly.
But urgency does not distinguish between clarity and premature closure.
It simply reduces what remains available for consideration.
Speed has a cost.
Often the cost is invisible because it consists of possibilities that were never considered.
